Jodi Powers cut her teeth in the fast-paced world of newspapers and deadlines. As a news and sports editor, she attended and photographed countless events, conducted hundreds of interviews, wrote as many articles, developed thousands of photographs and performed layout. Jodi Powers has the acclaimed honor to be the first female sports editor in Nebraska!

After that, she began an 18-year career in marketing with an architectural firm, where she did everything from proposal writing, to developing internal and external communications for all sectors, to coordinating all national trade shows, to executing all national advertising, to securing national speaking opportunities, to conducting the firm’s national public relations, to submitting all national award submittals to writing many articles for national publications. While with the architectural firm, Jodi worked with all the offices and their leaders and was instrumental in elevating the firm’s sustainability practice.

After working successfully for years as a proposal writer (with a 100 percent shortlist rate), Jodi was recruited to lead the communications efforts of DLR Group’s new national marketing department: DLR Group Marketing. Group Marketing was created to unite the firm’s 20+ offices and promote the firm as the national powerhouse in the architectural/engineering industry and to ensure a consistent voice for internal and external communications. Jodi worked with the firm’s architectural and engineering leaders, public relations and marketing professionals across the country to develop campaigns and materials that met the firm’s brand messaging and objectives. We launched the firm’s web site, developed internal and external communication systems via the Intranet, handled the firm’s national and local conferences, developed a series of collateral materials and performed a coordinated public relations effort. Jodi also trained and mentored all new marketing professionals hired in each of the DLR Group offices.
