POPs Ride (Pedal Over Parkinson's) is a four-man team of bikers who will pedal cross country next year to raise $1 million for Parkinson's disease. Before their ride begins in April 2011, they're planning a number of Phoenix-area fundraisers to get the word out about their ride.

Their next fundraiser is a "Pig'n Out for Parkinson's" BBQ event to be held at Tom's BBQ in Chandler this Sunday, August 29 from 11:00 - 3:00. Tom's BBQ is located at 4920 South Gilbert in Chandler. See the flyer below.

Here's a little background on POPs Ride: Six years ago Shane and Shannon Stutzman's father, Jerry, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Then, on Thanksgiving 2008, Shane and Shannon's cousin Pam, on their mother's side of the family, was diagnosed with Parkinson's too.

GALLERY  INFORMATION

Spalsh Media | Despins Printing and Graphics is located in the heart of the new Scottsdale Airpark Design District. Business owner Jackie Wszalek began working with local artists displaying their high quality fine works of art more than six months ago to meet a twofold goal – one “to have beautiful works for art on the walls,” said Wszalek and to provide a space for artists to exhibit their work. “We have great wall space and the colorful vibrant works really brightens our environment!”

Gallery 2345 is the Valley’s newest art gallery. Longtime valley residents, and successful entrepreneurs Eduardo and Sheila Martin - Castillo opened gallery 2345 on Friday, May 14, 2010 with the show “Phoenix Rising – Collaborations in Innovation.”

As with many valley business owners, the Castillos were faced with an unoccupied building, a continuing mortgage, no new tenants in sight and months of unproductive searching for alternatives. They reached out to their network of friends and business associates and during the process a seed of new possibilities was planted. With assistance from their friend and artist, Kathryn Henneman (and support from a local financial institution)a decision was made to re-purpose the vacated space to provide value to local artisans, businesses and the community.

Exhibits at Gallery 2345 feature the works of Arizona artists ranging from pillars of sculpted hand carved wood to pottery to photography from around the world as well as hand blown glass, jewelry, chandeliers, oils on canvas, ethnic treasures, watercolors and much more.

The collaboration of Gallery 2345 and Splash Media | Despins Printing and Graphics, celebrates the community of artists, sculptors, authors, angels, musicians, architects and other visionaries. “We support those who are committed to doing well while doing good,” said Sheila Martin-Castillo, co-founder of Gallery 2345. "We feel as though we have been given an exceptional gift and now it is up to us to make the most of it.”
